Title: ART II Phantom Power Concern
Post by: ksg4299 on May 10, 2009, 09:47:30 PM
new to the board and had a concern about a short-term fix to power my mics....i'll be purchasing a pmd-661 or edirol r-44, but the finances are tight after recently buying some peluso cemc-6's...can i SAFELY use the ART II box i already have to power these mics with the setup mentioned below.....

peluso cemc-6's > canare cables > ART II > 5' Hosa YXF-305 (F-XLR to right angle 3.5mm, no transformers) > edirol r-09

any danger to the mics?
any danger to the recorder?

i've searched the board for old threads about the above topic, but didn't see this exact setup referenced, so i just want to make sure that i don't jeopardize my investments.

thanks for any insight you can provide.....this site has already been a truly amazing experience for me

The Pelusos are standard P48, I see no reason why you shouldn't:

Yep, no problems with that AFAIK.  I do it with CMC6>PS-2 (phantom unit)>miniplug on R-09HR.
