sbm-1 to optical?

Anyone know how this is done? It seems the sbm-1 has a male 7-pin out. Is there some sort of female 7-pin to optical cable out there? I guess what I'm really asking is if there is anyway to run sbm-1>jb3 without some type of co2 device?

Check the Archival Information section in the Cables and Related thread, there should be a Sony part number for a 7-pin > optical cable.

right, get the cable Brian mentions, then you would use the plug in port on the SBM instead of the pigtail.  ;)

i run an optical 7 pin cable out of the sbm into my U2A for lappy taping.  i would love to trade my optical cable to a 7 pin with rcas though, so if anyone has a trade let me know :)

Doug Oade posted on the other board that the SBM-1 is set up so it could be modded to have an optical out.  Doug said he is not going to start doing it, but it is possible.  Otherwise you would need to get the sony 7pin optical cable, but many people have had issues with these.

I have over 50 hours of field recording with an Oade Mod SBM-1 (line-level and coax-out upgrade) and run the Sony 7pin > optical out of the SBM to a Nomad 3.... no issues to date.   ;D
