Title: What up with CF prices?
Post by: notlance on May 11, 2009, 08:53:52 AM
I bought a 32GB CF card from newegg a couple of months ago for 60 bucks shipped, and now they are over $100.  Isn't that against the laws of nature?  Memory is supposed to come down in price over time right?  It seems the 16GB card are more expensive too.  Must be a sign of the Apocalypse.

Increased demand?  Reduced stock/raw materials?  SDHC appears to continue to drop or at least to have leveled out.

memory is the largest unregulated commodity in the world. most likely one of two scenarios, either the main manufacturer of 100gb cf cards stopped to make another size now or someone like apple gobbled them all up for an upcoming device

CF is losing market share.  Why?  Well, at least one thing, unlike SD, it has an extra controller on board, and that probably costs more.  Just a guess.

i was about to open a similar topic, because i was looking for new 32GB cards and hfound nothing. Newegg had those cheap but 100% reliable A-DATA but they don't have on stock anymore.

So at this point, what is the best source (price/quality wise) for CF cards?
