NYC Home Audio Sales/Installation
« on: September 09, 2014, 12:57:52 PM »
With any luck, I am finally going to become a homeowner soon, and am looking for recommendations for people in NYC who can assist. Bonus if someone does audio and security together, though they may not really go together.

I have some of my own gear that I am planning to keep, including analog equipment like turntables. I would also plan on buying some new gear from the place, as well as having homewide wiring done.

In one room I want a home theater style wiring setup (5.1) with the stereo pair in there being something actually good but also attractive (Dynaudio or something)
In other rooms I want stereo pairs, some hung.
Wiring for stereo pairs in most rooms.

I'd also like a Sonos or some other system that could integrate with my iTunes (where 99% of my non-vinyl music lives) and be easy to operate everywhere.

Has anyone worked with a service that does this that they can recommend? I know Stereo Exchange does this, but I don't really know much about their reputation.

Read up on Sonos very carefully, they have a hard total track limitation that they can handle (I think it's something like 60k). If you can fall under that, great, but if not, then you'll need something else.

Hah... There's no chance AJ will fall under that limit!  :P

Check out CytexOne (http://www.cytexone.com/). We used them when renovating our new office and have been more or less happy with their service. I can probably get you a referral if you'd like.

Yeah, I've got something like twice that so their workarounds weren't even close to feasible. Did some detective work earlier this year; the folks who make it basically shrugged and said it's a hard limit due to how they coded the underlying system, so don't expect it to change....
