Church Audio CA-11 mics first time use and review
« on: September 25, 2011, 02:52:17 AM »
I was outside tonight surround by trees in central park, I used Chris' mics tonight for the first time, ca-11 cards in an m10, mic input with plug in power.

Sounds sexy, warm, the bass is clean and hard hitting. no overload one bit, i stayed around -10 db average. so good it went direct to the ipod and a bike ride.

I really couldn't believe how sweet out the box they sounded without any eq'ing, right on Chris.

I has them positioned on my t shirt, resting towards the back of my neck, approx aim of 110 degrees, and pointed up slightly upwards to the stacks and roughly 6 inches apart. roughly the ORTF Configuration.

This has always been my preferred way to record, also because its worry free maintenance so i can enjoy the show more like jumping around and the mics will always hover around the optimal direction.

Thanks for the kind words.
I am glad you like them.

How long does the battery last for the ugly batterybox?

I can't find any info on the Church Audio website.

I recently left the battery in the ugly batterybox for a day , by accident.
Does it use power when not connected to a recorder , or does it use power when generally connected to the batterybox?

But I have to say, I don’t mind it. I do object when I see people sticking microphones up my nose, in the front row. If I see anyone doing that [laughs] I’m going to have security remove them. Because that’s just obnoxious. But I don’t mind if people come and discreetly at the back make a recording of it. And I know that it’s just for their own use, for the superfan.

Pretty sure the ugly BB only uses power when a mic is plugged into it. I pretty much never remove the 9-volt from mine, and have likewise left it attached to the recorder for long periods on occasion with no ill effects.

Sounds sexy ...

What?  I liked the idea of a review on these mics but that "sexy" comment was kind of corny.

Clearly you haven't yet met the right mics.

A quality 9V battery can last a very VERY long time.. Like 100s of hours. Because there is so little current draw from the mics.. BUT I would strongly recommend that they mics be unplugged from the battery box when not using it.
