Who's the cable guru?
« on: February 04, 2006, 07:26:25 PM »
So, I've been ordering funky, crazy, one-off cables from Marc (leegeddy) for quite some time, but that is obviously not an option right now.

Who's the guru?  I'd always rather buy through someone here and support their hobby and craft than pay an overpriced amount for a near-identical sound.  I've read of Todd R...but have not had the opportunity to meet or speak with him (I'm a left coaster).  Who else?

Couple of things I need before the end of the month:

- looking at new battery setups for pre-amp.  will need something for this.
- right angle interconnects for pre-amp
- couple other interconnects.

thanks,
mike

Besides Todd R, there is Ed from KindKables (deadheaded is his screen name) and I think fozzy is making some cables as well as selling the mini-Belden silver cable in bulk.

I've gotten a juicebox from Todd, have used some of Ed's cables (borrowed a set) and have no experience with anything from fozzy, though I haven't read anything negative about his work.

Shoot all three a pm, tell them what you need and then go from there according to what replies you get.

I have some XLR's from Todd and they are definitely high quality cables. The transaction was smooth and quick.

When I lived in the DC area I use to see Todd at a lot of shows and I always left with the impression that he was a all around nice guy and he knew his gear. Have no fear dealing with him.

I would recommend Todd R. He made me a couple sets of interconnects a while back that are very nice. Smooth transaction too.

fozzy made a great cable for me, w/ quick turnaround.
Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

I have done business with all three individuals above and every transaction was excellent, top notch.
all three exhibited professional workmanship with every order, the business aspect was 100% spot on, and when there were problems (aren't there always?) they were taken care of immediately and effectively.  I have nothing but the highest praises for all three members, (ed, fozzy and todd) and would not hesitate (and am planning to) do business with all three in the future.

the same cannot be said for marc kim, aka leegeddy.  his work is amazing but it's not worth the b.s. needed to get it done.  I'm having major problems with him at the moment, since he will not return my phone calls and has had ~$600 worth of my gear since september of last year.  my next step, if I don't get a response this week, is a call to my lawyer.  seriously.  avoid him like the plague.

that sucks tim, id get some higher powers involved and get either A. money back or B. gear back

I just finished burning in some 1ft machined down RAs (pre end) that he made for my v3.  I just plug my regular XLR's in and I'm g2g....keeps my setup time very short.  great quality...even better prices!

I just got a pair of dogstar XLR cables w/ right connecters from Todd R and I am very pleased w/ the whole transaction from start to finish. Todd R is very professional and I would definetly buy more products from him in the future.
