Made the mistake of buying a $10 adjustable bar in Amazon, which promptly broke.
Having trouble finding a stereo bar that would be good for as wide a range of mic configurations as possible.
Any recs?

DIY one.
I call mine the Axis-Reference Stereo Bar, a fancy name for 1.25" wide aluminum stock, center drilled for a thread t-nut, that was riveted into place. Heavy scribing of 45º reference lines that later get highlighted in white paint, as dots, completes the package.

I like to use the SRS Shapeways bars whenever possible, but when I want an adjustable bar I have this: http://www.rode.com/accessories/sb20
The Rode bar works well enough, but it is a bit bulky (relatively speaking).

I got this one and like it. cheap too but reasonable construction.

I used the K&M bar for many years but use a Vark bar or a Sabrasom ST2 nowadays.

This is a similar design to one I bought. Is that center threading attached as a single piece to the bar or can it come undone. The one I bought had the bar pop off from the attached threading.
If it’s one piece I think this is what I’ll go with.

I don't use adjustable bars anymore as I am also a STS fan. I do have a vark bar (that I do not use) and used to have a Sabrasom ST2.

The best thing about this one is if you buy 972 of them you get a really big discount.

followinbob wide mic bars - not a $10 bar, but these bars will last for a lifetime of use, well built, practically indestructible, available in 12" & 24" - very pleased with mine and highly recommended! Read the comments in the thread...
