how long does your battery box last
« on: April 06, 2005, 08:26:02 PM »
actually how long does the battery itself last  ;D

interested in what peeps are experiencing in the field with sp's battery boxes, since it seems a lot of you have them.  the mics i will be most interested in hearing about are at853's.

please include if your box is a 9v or 12v (i am thinkning of both - actually want 2x 9v, one for each mic)

i think those batteries are good for around 500 hours.  it probably wouldn't hurt to change it every 6 months or even less time than that if you tape a bunch.  seriously, would you rather lose a couple of bux on a battery every couple of months, or lose a recording.

Because nothing says "I have lots of money and am sort of confused as to how to spend it" like Bose.

I've just been in the habit of checking the 9volt in my battery box with a multi-meter every month or so and when the voltage drops below 8 volts I swap it out with a fresh battery and use the old one to power something of less importance.

schwilly is the only person in history to do a couple of things that come to mind:

1. consistently pull decent tapes with the sony ecm-ms907/908c
2. have the 9v in a sound pro battery box die on him DURING a show.

best to change the battery every few months. it's worth the few bucks!
