Power for a DA-P20 ?
« on: July 30, 2005, 01:00:01 PM »
I have a musician friend who sent me this question. I don't know, so I thought I'd pass it on to you folks.

I have a DA-P20 TEAC DAT recorder.  I also have the A/C power supply
and all works fine with the exception of the 'dead' battery pack:
BP-P20.  I've found out that this part is no longer available but
have also heard that there is a way to use other rechargeable
battery packs to make this system portable.  I don't now how to go
about that and I assume whatever I use will have to have similar
connections as the BP-P20 has with its' three contacts ( +, -, G) in
the battery compartment of the recorder??

What materials do I need, where can I find them and will my AC power
supply still recharge as it did for the old battery?  I would like
to be mobile so the idea of a big bulky computer or motorcycle
battery does not sound ideal but if it offers more 'hours' of
recording than the little two hour window the old battery pack did
it would be well worth the effort.

Hope you can help him.  Thanks, R.

try www.prodigitalinc.com

They have refurbished many Casio DA-7s and Teac DA-P20s and their batteries. They may be able to do it for you or at least point you in the right direction.
