Marantz PMD660 power issues
« on: November 11, 2016, 08:48:20 AM »
I've been having some power issues with my PMD660 lately, so I took my rig to work to try a controlled test. Here's my rig: Beyerdynamic MCE86-II shotguns > Art Phantom II > PMD660. The mics require phantom power, so that's why the Art. Using a set of Duracell Pro-Cells right out of the box, I'm recording a lecture at work. (I work at a med school) The record level is up pretty high, almotst at max. At 55 minutes, the battery meter is showing them almost dead.

It wasn't always this way. I could do a full two-hour plus show with no issues. Any ideas? I made sure the headphone level was all the way down, phantom power in the 660 is off. Display backlight is off. I can't think of anything else to save power. I assume I'm going to need to use some sort of external battery, but why is it eating batteries now?
