MP-2 Output
« on: April 01, 2004, 07:00:58 PM »
Will the MP-2 output a signal out of both the XLR and the Tape Return outputs at the same time?  I would test it, but am hoping someone can answer.... ;D

Tape return is an input ;)   I assume you mean tape out.

I am pretty sure it's both, but I have no way of testing it myself at this moment either!

like Scott and Jason said, it will.  The tape out is a lower level (-10dB?) than the balanced outs, though.  It's a great way to patch MDers without draining the batteries on your deck

yup, works...tested this morning...+t to all...thanks for the help.  I am actually going to run a on the fly matrix tonight, and what I think I will also do is run the tape out to my buddies M1 (assuming my deck gets back in time) so when I screw up the matrix tape, I will have a back up...

going to run the following

MG200s->MP-2(XLR Outs)->Behringer MXB1002 Line in + SBD->Behringer MXB1002 Line in ----> Mod SBM-1->D100

On the side, I think I am going to run the tape out to my buddies M1 so that when I screw up the mix, I will have a backup copy... ;D

no idea on whether I like the mixer or not.  Easy to use, easy to power is about all I can say with certainty, since I have only played with it at home so far.  After tonight, I will make an educated decision as to whether it sticks around or if it ends up on ebay, and I invest in a mackie....

I will be using it tonight at the Cast Iron Filter show in Raleigh....I pimp these guys all the time...great band...fun live show....

nice...would be cool to use line outs on each channel from the mixer (if it has them) to feed each dat so you record 4 separate tracks, then you can transfer each and blend them later in your studio/transfering/listening environment where conditions to actually listen are more ideal.

just a thought

have fun tonight nick

to be honest, this is the way I have done it before....using 2 recording devices, SBD to one and mics to the author and mix them on my PC after.  Last time I did this, it took 9 hours to get it right for a 2.5 hour show due to drift differences on the deck.  My hope is that this will alleviate the need to do that activity, because I want to get out of the 9 hour post processing type activities.

If this doesnt fix it, then no big deal, I sell the mixer and buy the 4 track SD box and that should solve my problem.

just remember the the mic-out and tape out have different voltages.  But it shouldn't matter for you if it's just for back-up
