popcorn hour

Does anyone here have experience with the popcorn hour streaming device.  From the description, it looks pretty sweet, almost a baby HTPC without the constant need of updating.  For only $250, I think it might be my xmas present to myself.

I've never used one, but I've been looking into them lately. I need a way to play downloaded tv on my HDTV and this has been suggested most often.

Yeah, it claims to do mkv, so hdtv stuff that is x264 in the mkv container should play in its full hd glory.  Same with movies.

Right now I'm converting x264 with mkv2vob app for the ps3 but that is only in the bedroom.  The 360 is in the main room, and there's no speedy way to convert for it.  I'm thinking this would be handy in the main room for stuff like that.

I'm getting quite pissed off with my crappy cox dvr, if I had something like this, I wouldn't need to rely on it as much.

I just got the western digital version (WDTV) and it plays 720/1080P mkv flawlessly. Gapless audio has not been added yet but it will play 24/96 flac. Those features were enough for me to believe it is worth the $99 price tag.

It's a cool little gadget. I wish that it had a wireless or wired connection to a LAN. So you could play files from networked drives.
