6v V3 on 12V?
« on: September 24, 2004, 07:29:06 AM »
cool or not? i am thinking that it is fine, as long as im not worried about using the low battery light and the auto shutoff

it is just gonna be a one time deal for tonight, then im on to a 9v wal-mart batt

6v sla is DEAD and wont take a charge,a nd the show is tonight, and no place anywhere near to buy the stuff to do it, or time enough to go get a walmart 9v and charge it...

looks like maybe my sla isnt dead

seems to be raising the voltage this time trying to charge it, and at a decent rate...

i unhooked it before i left last night and didnt get a chance to let it charge fully

il just have to wait, hope, and test

My understanding is that the v3 is designed to run on any voltage between 6 and 12vdc.  Thus, per my understanding, the only problem you'd run into powering a 6v v3 on 12v would be lack of a low battery warning.  OTOH, a 12v V3 wouldn't run on 6v due to the low battery shutoff.

NOTE, I don't have and have never used a v3

The only concern about using a 12V is that the V3 cutoff circuit is calibrated for the 6V battery, so if you run really long, there is the possibility of deep discharging the 12V cell.  If you assume 1A V3 power draw, you can estimate a safe run time using 80% of your 12V battery capacity.

i did rig up a setup to test out the V3 > 410 combo, and its just not gonna work for me at all

looks like if i tape at all tonight (dont think im gonna even go afterall) it will have to be just straight 410

i cant run the 410 > to my laptop w/out using the ASIO 410 drivers and you cant utilize them with s/pdif input. clicks and pops all over the place.

after messing w/ all my stuff for 5 hours past when i should ahve went to bed (i work nights) im tired of messin w/ it. i could hack one of my 12v4ah packs and wire it to my v3 power cable, but i sold the 410 and packs just yesterday, so im not hacking anything up that is going into the mail tomorrow

im just gonna enjoy my vacation day and this beautiful weather. the place i was headed is dreadful anyways. really an awkward place to tape, and that was with SD mics, and i dont think the TL's would work out in there.

i would love to own some schepz for my new v3

i emailed a buddy (mike fischer) awhile back about his but he never got back to me.

what i really would like is to get some 140s w/ lc3's and some ak50s shortly thereafter. i would take the schepz, but it would be quite awhile longer to save to afford more caps

i really need to move back to the SD mic world though

I might have some ak50's, actives and bodies for sale soon.

I actually co-own them with a friend who lives in Springfield, David Roberts... he runs 480's... I'm sure you've met him
