Thanks for the update posting.  Still hoping if these work out well, they will produce one w/o the pre and a/d stages soon thereafter.  Recorder only.  I like the fact that the HD is 40 GB AND field replaceable!!

Me too...but then they tell me if I exercise and don't drink as much beer it will get smaller.

Pretty much a rundown on the basics of digital audio (wordlength, etc.) but it does say that the box will automatically split files at 4GB, and will be recognizable as a FAT32 volume :)

Dan where did you see the info for one without pre and a>d. That sounds like more my speed. I really dont wanna have to buy another damn $300 d8 before this thing comes out.

I'm holding out for a four channel version. I would love to do four channels, and I don't want to get a laptop involved in my recording setup. Right now I have to mix down to two channels for DAT.
