Azden FMX-32 field mixer- anyone ever used this?
« on: April 08, 2006, 09:05:06 PM »
Hey,
I stumbled upon this on the B&H Photo website. Its a battery operated 3 channel pre/field mixer. At first look, it seems like it might be a decent little pre that I could use to run into my R1.

Has anyone ever used this or know someone who has. A search on this forum turned up nothing. Is this a reliable brand? This is the website for the product.

As far as technical specs, I really have no idea what those numbers mean. Perhaps someone with a little more knowledge could take a look and comment on this piece. B&H sells it for $330

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I never saw this mentioned further.

In the meantime, Azden also launched FMX-42, a 4 channel mixer with P48, battery operated:

Both FMX-32 and FMX-42 look workable from a taper point of view, but maybe the price point is too high? Or too heavy to schlep around?

What do you all think about the specs?

I own the FMX-32.  I bought it with the intention of mixing in some omni with cards.  I've only recorded music with it once. Works fine. It's made for the ENG crowd.  I tend to use it around the house for video w/ the kids.  Takes 6 NiMH rechargeables.  Build quality is OK.  Fits in a bag fine.  I do plan on using it more for music, but I don't get out much and tend to reach for the MP-2 instead.
