There's a good reference for SBD patch cables here:
http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,34254.0.html
those are the same cables/adapters i have
depending on what the input on your recorder is you just change the one end from 1/8 > _

I patched into the SBD for Ryan Adams last Monday here in Columbus.  They have 4 Sets of XLR males at tapers disposal.  I left my R-09HR there unattended and had no issues.  The soundguy with Ryan Adams was very nice and helpful.  He said just pick 2 XLR outs and patch in.  No issues what so ever.

Here's my source

http://www.archive.org/details/radams2008-09-29.radams2008-09-29.sbd.3-fan.flac16

i picked up the following gear, pretty sure its what i will need:

2 of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=140280259985

1 of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=140272953489

would i just plug the stereo jack into 'line in' on the r-09?. Also, what levels should i set the r-09 at?

thanks

alex

Yes go line in.  I don't recall what "unity" is on the R-09 as it is different on my R-09HR, but I do know the signal wasn't too hot.  Just watch your levels for a few moments when the show starts and adjust accordingly.  Keep your peaks at around -6 and all should be good to go.

thanks for the info, i'll see how things pan out. for some reason i remember someone posting somewhere in another post that unity is 8 on the r-09. if anyone can confirm i would appreciate it.

I used to own a R-09.  I'm not sure if the unity was every 100% verified.  I was thinking it was in the 8-13 range.

Looks like Roland says 13 is unity.
