Title: SDHC CLass 4 - are they fast enough for a DR-2D?
Post by: tay666 on August 23, 2011, 05:27:55 PM
Just got my  Tascam DR-2D.
Now I need to get some cards to record on. Looking to get 8 GB cards, as I prefer to have a few smaller cards instead of one big one. Just in case something goes wrong, I won't loose everything.

What I am curious about though, are Class 4 cards fast enough for dual recording.
(for those that might not know, the DR-2D can record 2 separate stereo recordings at the same time)
I can get some Class 4's pretty cheap locally.
But if they aren't going to be fast enough, I will bite the bullet and get some Class 6's online.

Class 4 works fine, I'd suggest going with 16GB cards minimum though if you are doing four channel recording of more than one show.  That size seems to be a sweet spot now pricewise too.  Check the DR2d tread for which cards people have reported to work well.. and not.

Well, according to the documentation.
With an 8 GB card I should get 8 hours at 24/48
Or 9 hours at 24/44.1

So that would be 4 hours of duel recording.

I can find 8 GB cards for $10 or less easily.
Don't see too many 16 GB cards for $20 or less.

Thanks for posting though.
