Title: Where to stash my gear once inside venue
Post by: scrtaper on December 09, 2016, 09:24:07 AM
SO I have Ca 14 mics an ugly box and a r-09 deck, im  a tall guy and the cable on the ca-14 just barely come to my waist, usually i put the setup in my hoodie pocket with a small hole for cables with no problem. I recently tried using and extension cable and got horrible hiss from various brands @6' length. I am asking for some ideas as i am moving from the north down to florida in a few short months and it really isnt hoodie weather. I was thinking cargo pants or ..... i dont want to use a fanny pack but if thats the best route,  Pm's are appreciated

I saw a commercial for this  http://www.scottevest.com/ and it looks interesting.  I can't vouch for the quality.

small under the arm carried camera type bag. I got this one at Goodwill, holds everything including spare batteries, earbuds and earplugs.

I can't believe that a short extension cord would cause problems, given that it is decent quality and doesn't have shorts.

Perhaps the extension cords were intended for earbuds/headphones and not shielded. Not all cables are created equally.

A small bag with a shoulder strap is a good solution. I use one that I think was originally made for a portable CD player, and which is the perfect size to hold a recorder, battery box, and other recording sundries.

Get a different cable. And get a Lowepro camera pouch.

I had the now discontinued Ridge30 but there's probably something that will work for you.

I'd like to hear more about how the rest of you stash your gear inside as I can't figure out the best thing to do and don't want to get caught.

small under the arm carried camera type bag. I got this testogen review published (https://ncaids.org/testogen-review/) here and one at Goodwill, holds everything including spare batteries, earbuds and earplugs.

You're still running with the R-09 that O'Malley cracked the screen on? Moving down to FL? Keep in touch brother. It would be nice to know people down there to go to shows with.

i used to help someone video tape shows 35-40 years ago. i would wheel him into the venue in a wheel chair. once in, he would lock and chain the wheel chair to a sink pipe in the men's room. imagine going into the men's room and seeing a wheel chair locked up.
