Recommend some bungees to use for seat clamping
« on: June 08, 2014, 05:53:49 PM »
Browsing Newegg right now for bungee cables for an upcoming show. Starlight Theater in KC has too little area in the seats for my stand. Any affordable bungees out there anyone would recommend?

I like to use whats' called a Ball bungee. Often used for tenting or tarping. find them at any of the places above, particularly Home depot.

Forget about bungees.

Get some zipties. They're strong, cheap, and if you lose a few, so what?

Harbor Freight Tools is a great place to get bungees, zip ties, etc. dirt cheap. Keep your eyes peeled for free coupon where you can get a pocket muntimeter for free with any purchace. Those things come in handy

FWIW, with a solid clamp and extension pole I find I don't need bungees.

IMHO, there are no absolutes. I have nearly every pole and clamp in the "seasoned taper" trick-bag and still find situations where a bungee or two and some gaff/duct tape still come in handy...

Do you know the best way to connect the extension pole to a manfrotto clamp? Which stud works best?

Something like the Avenger E600C came with my Superclamp.

In a pinch I've used any of the double ended 5/8 studs in my bag.

No argument here.  While I don't carry bungees around unless I'm at a festival and use them to help stake down a stand, I always carry gaffers tape.

It's always good to have different options to pull out of your bag, some venues are picky about clamping or even gaffers tape.  The time you leave bungees at home will be the time the ushers won't let you clamp or use gaffer tape.  BTW always buy gaffers tape instead of duct tape.

I've become more  and more fond of Velcro rolls and /or ties
Check monoprice:
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=105&cp_id=10520&cs_id=1052003&p_id=5828&seq=1&format=2

It works great around different size objects even trees and tree limbs.
light weight and reusable.  I've cut some lengths into 2 and 3 foot strips and have a longer like 8 foot piece too. never go to a show without velcro!  ;D

Velcro, tape, and hair ties, along with a bunch of nickels in all of my bags to open my VMS in a pinch ;D  But yes, all are a necessity in my taping adventures :)

And I'm glad for this thread, because I'm all outta bungee cords at the moment some how? So this thread reminded me to grab a container of them the next trip to Wal-Mart or Sam's Club :) And gaffer's tape! Damn it's expensive tho!
