turntable wall shelf
« on: March 27, 2015, 02:01:03 PM »
question...I just picked up my new nottingham tt and it is a heavy beast (22lbs if I believe the spec).  I have a Target Turntable wall shelf, installed with 4 screws (2 per stud - shelf is 16" wide).  Needless to say I am a little nervous putting this heavy thing up there.  Anyone have any experience to alleviate my concerns?

Edit to change weight..I read the initial wrong...it is 10KG, so 22 lbs.

thats not an outlandish load. (says the guy with two, two hundred pound TT's)
the screws hit the studs, correct?

put something heavier up there, that doesn't matter, and see what the shelf does.

yeah, they are flush in the studs (other side of the wall is open as it is the attic).  I am probably being overly cautious with my new toy.  Good idea on putting something heavier up there, I will probably try that first.  Thanks Moke!

ok, have done a little research, my turntable shelf, when mounted to studs is rated for 40lbs.  So my 22 lb turntable shouldn't be an issue.  Will get it all setup tonight and snap some pics.

Not sure what your shelf looks like, but change out the screws for some heavier lag screws and you should be able to sit on your shelf...

yeah, screws are badass.  In construction, you also do a lot of demolition.  Demo is made incredibly difficult if someone has screwed stuff together (I'd hate to be the guy demo'ing my work. I love screws).
