DMB at Darien Lake Taping ?
« on: July 12, 2004, 11:31:32 PM »
Got tickets to DMB tommorow and i'm considering taping. The problem being I have heard Darien is a crappy venue and my seats are in section 306. Seating chart: http://media.ticketmaster.com/en-us/tmimages/venue/maps/ny1/ny1034a.gif  Is it worth running tape from there considering i'm gonna be using c1000's?  Thanks for any help.

Tape if you want to. I taped with C1000s from the lawn at the St. Louis show. Its fun to tape. Do what you want. If you want to enjoy the show, enjoy the show, if you want to enjoy the show and tape, tape. Just be sure to feel the love.

There will be other tapers there so if you don't want to tape you don't have to.  But if you enjoy it (which I assume you do), just roll tape anyway and have fun.

hopefully i will be able to, i am having problems with my stand I just got, seems I got the wrong stand adapter so I am going to have to search around here for a 1/4 - 3/8 adapter.  Anyone know any stores in the buffalo area that would have one?

Guitar Center maybe.  Most local music shops would probably have them also. (I think)
Good luck.

IMHO... Best place to tape at Darien is the lawn.  I've tried a few spopts under the tent and never liked them.  I tried both hypers and cards in the lawn and liked the hypers the best.  You can center up and end up being no more than 20 ft. from a delay speaker hanging on the outside of the tent.

unless you can get DFC up front then tape from the lawn. You can set up right under the PA for the lawn, tapes come out decent...under the shell can be boomey has hell at Darien

I ended up taping with regular cards (my c1000's didnt come with the hyper converters for some p.i.t.a. reason) from section 306, 3 sections back from the left stack, right next to one of the band mics.  It actually came out not too bad for the tons of connectors I used and relying on the mics 9v power.  I'm going to finish listening to it and I might even seed it.  Who knows
