Welcome to the wonderful worl of taping....hand over your wallet at the door! :)

Cables....

Pair of xlr mic cables (male one end female on the other)  There are tons to chose from...you can spend $20 -> $300+ on a pair

I'd get a active 7 pin from oade if going with the dat...a toslink to....whatever digi in is on the jb3 :P

I'm sure there are more ideas and opinions...have fun!

can you even buy an oade active cable by itself anymore? i thought they only sold  them to you if you bought your dat from them.

Get canare star quad mic cables as they procide the best bang for buck.  I could make you a pair of straight angles if you would want them pretty cheap like!

a couple new Pro digital active cables on e-bay now. (Prodigital selling them)

I thought Oade will sell just the cable now.  But, I may be wrong?

i would definately recomend the JB3 (+ a toslink to mini optical from seller "accessoryking-com" on ebay [$6 shipped)

there is a TON of info on the jb3 floating around this board, so dont make any uninformed desisions.
ADK A-51s LE's > Oade W-mod UA-5 > Zoom H4n Pro if I bother to drag out a full rig. More often just the H4N Pro. My LMA tapes

i checked the website and they do sell them individually there are two types, ones active, 110 and 165 i think both are i/o's

one more quick question   :)

about what length should the wires be?

steve

i don't know why, but this irks me.

"Wires" are more of an electrical thing.
"Cables" are for audio, and used to transmit sound frequencies...

Microphones:
CCM4v (pair)
mk6 (pair) and mk41 (pair) with kc5's & cmc6's
mk21 (1) for those M/S situations

Preamps:
Sonosax SX-M2

Recorders:
Sound Devices 722
Edirol R-01

Agreed.  15 feet is more than enough for me.  YMMV

yeah, i know what you mean.  i have a custom audio company and affectionately use the term "pulling wire", even though most of my wire carries voice/audio.

literally, cable has wires in it.
