Charging 6V and 12V SLA
« on: May 24, 2006, 01:00:51 AM »
I have multiple Ecocharge batts- 6 and 12V versions.  The 12V charger I have is on the fritz. Can I charge the 12V battery with the 6V charger?  I know I can't do the reverse due to the voltage being too much, but what about going the from 6V -> 12V?  Wouldn't it be fine, but just take longer?

I don't know about the electrical stuff,  but even if you could,  you will have problems with the 6v and 12v being wired differently to the 4 pin XLR

a 12 volt battery needs over 12 volts fed to it in order to charge.  A 6 volt charger's going to feed a battery less than 12 volts.  So, no, a 6 volt charger won't charge a 12 volt battery regardless of wiring issues.
