Title: Splitting an SLA 12v

OK, I got me a question :D  Is it possible to power two 12 volt devices (sonosax, and ad1k)- off of the same 12 volt SLA battery!  I have a 12/12 brick, that I was thinking might be put to better use powering something else along with the apogee.  If this is possible, how the heck can I do it.  What would I solder where is what I would need to know!  Thanks

Hey Daryan - you just need to connect the two power cables in parallel.  Oh!  And make sure your fuse is rated for a high enough current so it doesn't blow (you did fuse your 12v SLA, didn't you?) :)

Yeah, what does "connect the two in parrallel" mean exactly?  I just need to know what to solder, and where!  Nope, never have used a fuse, and probably won't until I fugure out how to solder a little more efficiently...and Jonny told me he never used em, so I didn't either (which is pertinent, since all the struff in between the deck and the mics used to be jonny's)!  Any, and further help, is much appreciated!

Unfortunately, it doesn't provide all the answers.  But it's all I know having never used an AD1K or Sax power plug.

thirdofthree is just saying to wire both hot leads to the 'pos' terminal, and both ground leads to the 'neg' terminal.  he also makes a very good point about fusing your leads.  place an inline fuse on the 'pos' lead of each.  (horseshoe car type works fine and are easy to find if you ever need one).

make sure the amp rating is low enuf to protect your gear, yet high enough so it won't blow under normal use.  you should only load a circuit with 3/4 it's rated load.  so if you are running a 7.5ah battery, then a 10amp fuse would be called for.  for 12ah, a 15amp fuse should be fine.

BTW:  i thought the Sax ran on 9V?

Actually, glad to have it reiterated, though - some folks do well with pictures, others with words.  Always good to provide both.

Thanks a ton for the info, I will try this this evening, and let you know how it works out.  The sax runs on 2 9v internal, 12-24 external dc.
