Title: bt.etree.org Torrent Link Source Show ID question
Post by: Hypnocracy on February 17, 2017, 12:52:37 PM
I do more LMA uploads than Torrents...help me with these three fields...

When I upload a new torrent and filling out the information, I never know what to enter into these three fields...I finally understand how to create a database entry for the show:
http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.php?shows_key=643713

I assume there is something from this page I should enter. But, I just skip it and it seems to work.

Thanks in Advance.

Just leave those blank.

Once your Seed is entered into the DB (and approved by that particular band's Admin person), it will get a DB Number.

Once that happens, you can edit your Torrent page on BT.ETREE and enter in the DB Number in those spots.

Here is an example:

http://db.etree.org/shn/137834

The DB Link is "http://db.etree.org/shn/137834"

The DB Source ID is "137834".

The DB Show ID is "2718".  [click on the date of the show and it will take you to the general show page - http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.php?shows_key=2718]  BTW, I have never entered this number on any of my Seeds...

ETREE is dying a slow death...  For most bands, people just don't care anymore.  PH and GD are the only big ones that still keep up with their stuff, AFAIK.

If you want to alleviate work on the part of the Admin, enter your Source into the DB.  The Admin will still have to go through the approval process, but at least you entered in the Text File and FFP.  That way they don't have to go look for it themselves, or at least it gets put on DB and eventually given a number...

Frankly, most people are smart enough to figure it out, even without the Source Link info.  It just makes it a little bit easier for us OCD people who like to keep track of their collections...

There used to be a tool that allowed people to link LMA uploads to db.etree. It was great, because you didn't need to upload the txt and ffp file - it grabbed them direct from the LMA upload. But, it stopped working and Tom never fixed it. I had the North Miss. Allstars pretty close to up to date with what was on the LMA at one point, but it is a PITA to do it manually once you were using a tool like that.
