Aeta PSP3: DC power voltage??
« on: May 04, 2013, 10:38:47 AM »
I'm finding mixed results when searching for proper info.....  anyone know??

6V-12V (15V maximum)
http://www.taperssection.com/reference/pdf/Manual_AetaPSP3.pdf

3.5V-12V
http://www.posthorn.com/Aeta_3.html

The actual unit says 9V maximum.
The 9V DVD batteries work great, but I'd like to use lowest possible voltage that is safe in order to maximize battery longevity.
It would be sweet if it could safely run on 5V.

Thanks!

Can anyone tell me that if it is powered ON with 5V DC..  can/will it under-perform?
It powers ON with 5V DC, but I have not tried to run mics yet, or have not turned the phantom power on yet with that voltage.

i have run mics on 5 volts with a psp3. sounds fine but if you compare it to 9 volts  you will hear a big difference. stick with the 9 volt dvd battery. it will run a psp3 for 10 hours.hope this helps

can you elaborate on the differences you heard?

The sonosax behaves differently based on what voltage you feed it, but that's headroom capabilities, not sonics.
