That photo helps a lot. So force a small piece of rubber band between the slits? That won't mess up the power connection?
small enough that it is same width as the pin.  Basically provides a cushion between the two pins that kepps them from being pushed together..

I just had this exact problem with my V3 and it was a short in the mic cable recently.  If I moved the cable slightly it would spike the V3.
 Sent mic off to have cable fixed. Mic is suppose to be ready today to pick up.

Getting the V3 modified with a hirose connector was my solution - all with the help from Michael Grace. The power connector IS the achilles heel of the V3.
