Wondering if people can run these direct from 3v pip recorders by adding a single resistor in parallel to knock down the total bias resistance near 1.2k

Weroflu,

The parallel resistor would need to be inside the recorder. Might as well just replace the existing ones inside the recorder, but how compatible would that be with any other mics you might want to run?  Just using an appropriate Batt Box seems like a more practical solution.

Also, the 4060 and 4061 put out over 5V peak to peak at their max SPL rating.  You are not going to be able to do that with a 3V supply.  It's nice that you can achieve adequate bias current with a low value bias resistor and a 3V supply, but that doesn't guarantee that the mics can meet their performance specs.   :o

Probaby fine for someone talking or singing into their "tie knot" but that's not exactly what most people are doing round here.   ;D
