Only one way to find out. :)

Several years ago, a friend of mine bought a solar mobile-phone charger and he told me that it took a full day in the sun for it to charge his phone.  I'd like to think the manufacturer was using old technology for that device and things have improved since then, but who knows?

USB only, so not useful for most recorders except for ones that take 5V or less.
