Few newbie question
« on: July 31, 2003, 10:49:54 PM »
Hey all, I'm going to begin taping, just a few questions...

I plan on running mc012's > ps 2 > ad 20 > d8

questions:

how do i connect the ad 20 to my d8?
the d8 doesn't want to turn on...its on when i connect using dc power, but with batteries, I'm not sure whats goin on.

Any help would be greatly appreciative.  Post here or im me - blguillen

-Thanks!

Bobby

RCA > mini coax adapter
coax > 7-pin cable

You might need an active coax > 7 pin if you ain't gettin signal from the ad-20.

Nice!

Thanks bro!

Where do I go about getting one?  Do I buy it online, or can I buy it at any local store? (i'm in Los Angeles)

you can get 7 pin from oade, possibly oade board, sonic sense, sonic studios, possibly this board in yardsale section, possibly ebay.

regarding power form batts.  you're using the sled right?  contacts on sled clean?  no corrosion?  sled really should only go in one way, has it been modified for some reason?

if you're having trouble, you might want to consider buying a larger external battery sled that holdc c or d batts and solder on  the plug for the dc power in.  beneficial for festivals.

i don't know if you've purchased any of the gear, but you might want to look into a digimod ua-5 instead of the ps-2 > ad-20 combo.  personally i've never been a fan of the ad-20, if you like it that's great but it's always good to look into alternatives before you drop money on your gear.

i'm not sure if i'm one to talk about being prudent, i'm on my third set of mics in a year.   8)

There happens to be a d-mod UA-5 for cheap on this very board right now....
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

the used one will be less or the same as ps2>ad-20. & no 9v's.

stupid fix (I did this the first time I tried to use my D8)... be sure you pull the sled out and put 4 batteries in it, not just two.
