AKG 681?
« on: September 24, 2003, 12:45:12 PM »
I got a copy of the leftover slamon+ Cracker show at midx and the source is as follows:

AKG 681 > Sound Devices MP2 > SBM1 > DA-P1 (44.1)

I did a google search on AKG 681 and nothing came up.  Is this a mistake in the source or do the exist?

yeah i guess it is pretty obvious that its supposed to be 481.  it sounds pretty nice.  Could use a little more low end bass.  doesn't have that phat bass sound that i like.  but thats just kinda picky.

yeah, it might just the acoustic bass and the sound he wants to get out of it.  Its more of a percussive sound than a phat tone.

weird, twice in two days...there's a panic source being offered over on digitalpanic.org for midx:

Widespread Panic
Mid-Atlantic Music Festival - Main Stage
Lewisburg, WV
Sunday - July 13th, 2003

Source: AKG 681 > Sound Devices MP2 > SBM1 > DA-P1 (44.1).
Transfer: DA-P1 > ZA2 > SoundForge > CDWAV > flac.
Taped and transferred by Rob Katz (robkatz@erols.com).

i've seen this dude patching around DC a lot...i assume this is who you all are referring to?

Yeah, I think that is him.  You would think he would know his own rig info or what he patched off of before seeding the shows.  Besides, my panic tape smokes, why would anyone want a different version.  I am surprised at the lack of bass as well, as the show was what I would call fairly boomy, explosive etc in the low end.
