Hi all -

I read in the Sennheiser MKH 8000 series thread there is / may be / is planned? a remote/active cable that carries left and right channels in one cable, with a Y split at the top and bottom for the caps and bodies.  Anyone know if this is true, and what the Sennheiser part number may be?

Also, it sounds like the 8000 series "body" is really just an XLR plug with minimal wiring - has anyone toyed with the idea of making custom cables for the 8000 series, using smaller XLR plugs, maybe right angle shorties, so you can plug the caps straight into whatever pre you're using?  In some future time I can imagine plugging the oh-so-tiny 8000 series caps directly into some very small recorder that delivers phantom (a la the MTII) for some very low profile recording when needed....

Any observations, hints, ideas or general musings appreciated!!!

Mike
