Ok,

I have a sbd and aud recording that I'd like to mix together in Soundforge.  Can anybody tell me the best way to do this?

Well I'm not sure you can do this in soundforge but I have not used it since version 4.5

If your two sources are from different word clocks you will not be able to line them up without some hassle. There is gonna be "sway" in time. Meaning if you match up a snare hit at 1min by 10min the recording will no longer be in sync. The amount of "sway" will vary in every instance (unless it is the same rig over and over I guess)

So your gonna have to either process one file to match the other in time. I think that any time compression processing likely introduces more artifacts that it's worth. My suggestion would be to chop the soundboard up every 5-10 minutes and realine with the audience for eahc piece. Pretty tedious task. I'm not sure that it can be done in your software anyway. This would require a multitrack program.

Maybe someone else can give you more advice.

you can try and do it in soundforge, i use 6.0, it doesnt really work very well and you cant really line up the two sources very easliy, thats why i picked up cool edit pro, much easier in a multitrack environment.  and like cleantone said, with varying word clocks, your best bet is to cut up the sbd and patch it in when needed
