Any recommendations on a lightweight clamp for clamping my ortf or din bar to another taper's mic stand?  I'm running schoeps caps w/ active cables, so no need for a large, heavy clamp.

TIA

Heard good things about the Rowi clamps but, unfortunately, have never used any.

The WindTech C-clamps have always treated me very well and are pretty good for tight spaces and if you need a small footprint.  On-Stage makes a version that looks nearly identical but, having never tried it out, can't tell you how close it is to the original in terms of its build quality.

I use an "Ultrapod", camera tripod,  with a Schoeps a20 mount and a kwon bar.

They are light weight and fairly cheap.  It uses a velcro strap to attach to a stand.

This is the solution I came up with and posted it in the knowledge base, it's very elegant and very lightweight too.

"Mini Cardellini Microphone Clamp with 3/8" Thread" (weight only 7 oz.) It's excellent for clamping to a stand as pictured and Rycote INV shock mounts will thread right on, no adapters necessary, the setup allows you to rotate and tilt the whole configuration to your desired angle.  Shown here with my AKG Blueline Actives in ORTF configuration using Vark Bar.

Of those mentioned above I have used both Rowis and Windtechs; either would work well. Another alternative not mentioned yet is the Manfrotto Nano. If you want it with a 1/4-3/8 reversible short stud it'll cost you about $9 more.

X2. WAY better than a Windtech, easily worth the extra cost..

1cylinder,

if you have not already purchased a stand clamp, I have an Atlas clamp which is a Windtech knock-off that I'd be willing to give to you for free. I just ask that you cover shipping. PM me for details if interested...

I also like the Rowi clamps because they come with a wood screw so you can screw the clamp into a tree or anything wooden, and realistically get wherever you want to :) I have a Windtech too, mine is about 14 years old tho :P Def seen its better days but is foolproof and works like a charm. The tightening screw that actually touches the stand will eventually break free and FUCK UP your stand tho :P :( Thats why I recommend Rowi clamps for most clamping situations :)

>>>> Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll probably end up w/ going with Flipp's recommendation as per above, and purchase one of these:  http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572347-REG/Manfrotto_386B_386B_Nano_Clamp.html  This Manfrotto piece seems to be the smallest/lightest clamp around, & as i'm only runnning mic caps and a schoeps bar i don't need a larger/heavier one.

nano > rowi > windtech

You want a small clamping setup on the cheap? That's just about it (and the screw is event changeable to a 90 degree turn, just change the rapid adaptor):

(dollar coin used as it's the only size reference I have handy, but that's a 3/8th screw on the head)

......... Hard to beat that rig for size and (I imagine) cost.  Is it stable?
