What  Sample/bit setting....light on or off...LED brightness?

These things all affect the power consumption of the 722.

If we're going to compare battery run times, we need to have a standard for everyone to use to compare their batts.

I suggest this:

Sample / bit  96/24

light on

meter LEDs dimmest setting

phantom on

mediia: HDD

unit actually recording with some input signal

If we all use the same parameters for testing, the comparisons will have more meaning.

there is not gonna be any standard unless we all use the same mics, every mic uses more current, the 480's are rated a 2ma, the 414's are 4ma, so thats half the life of the battery right there

cool, i believe the 480/460 both suck down 2ma, so that means i will get pretty decent runtimes as well :)

i used to get  10 hrs easily going 480>v3(phantom/ansr/aes and spdif active/etc) going into my v3 :)

wow! i don't want to sound like negative nancy but those runtimes seem unreal. i know most people were getting around 5-6 hours with the 6000mAh batteries. i was getting 6 1/2 or so in really hot coniditions this weekend running line in. i need to run some similar tests to verify.

anyone done any playback tests for battery life?

i would think it would get much better run times playing back as opposed to recording but found that the playback I have done drains the battery almost as quickly. just curious if anyone has done any actual tests.

from sd themselves

Hi Nate,

We recently ran some tests with the Sony NP-F970 battery (6600 mAh) with great results. Powering one condenser microphone while recording to the hard drive, the Sony battery achieved a total of 7 hours of continuous record time when fully charged.
