Phase one is file set creation.

Once the FLAC files are cut intro proper tracks and tagged with metadata (artist name, album "name" and song titles if possible, and track numbers), and info.txt and .ffp files are ready, then it's two different procedures for bit torrents or the LMA.

These are the instructions for torrenting on bt.etree.org:
http://bt.etree.org/upload.php

I've not looked at this all the way through lately, but this appears to be the instructions for LMA uploads.

I'm happy to answer questions if I can. PM or email if you like: acffhmorst at gmail

If these instructions are overly vague, perhaps I can write something up?

For tagging, many use Foobar and you need to get the Live Show Tagger plugin (this is all free and not dangerous). There are others. If you tag the files, the info appears when you use a player, either software or hardware. Tagging is important to torrents because if you don't the people who download can't do the tagging themselves without messing up the folder for uploads and so won't be able to seed anymore. Plus you save many people a little bit of time, so please do! Live Show Tagger uses your text file to guess what you want in each field. It is very syntax dependent unfortunately, gets screwed up for some of my naming conventions and if there are non-standard characters or numbers that aren't track numbers in filenames.

band
venue
date yyyy-mm-dd
(more info)

01. track01
02. track02
..

When you do upload on Archive, be sure to choose Live Music Archive. When entering the folder name, after the last extension (dpa.flac16 for example, no leading period) hit tab instead of enter, then hit enter when it says the folder name is available.

Theologically speaking, the two parties have divided the Seven Deadly Sins as follows: Republicans oppose lust, sloth and envy; Democrats scorn gluttony, greed, wrath and pride. Little progress is reported. -Gene Lyons

There are some updates that need to be made to that, but they are relatively minor. For example, MD5 and FFP files are no longer checked, even if included.

Also, the best link to use is this one:
https://archive.org/download/lmaupload/lmaupload.html

It redirects to the page you reference, but if we ever change the redirect, you won't get a dead link.
If you have a problem relating to the Live Music Archive (http://www.archive.org/details/etree) please send an e-mail to us admins at LMA(AT)archive(DOT)org or post in the LMA thread here and we'll get on it.
