Anyone Here Work/Worked in Home Audio/Theatre?
« on: June 27, 2010, 02:59:41 PM »
need new speakers, I'm considering both a traditional two channel playback system, but am also toying with the idea of having wall/ceiling mounted speakers in the four corners of my living room, which might be dope, these days I listen to mostly instrumental, house, techno, and minimal techno, my room is rectangular with vaulted ten or twelve foot ceilings, anyone have any thoughts I should consider, thanks for any insight

Chris, unless you've moved recently I have been in the room that you're talking about.  :P

I think for your purposes a stereo setup would be a little better suited to that room.  There are a lot of reflective surfaces in that with the hardwoods, and I feel like a quad or 5.1 system might be a little tough to "tame" in there.  Plus the fact that you'll most likely be listening to stereo sources is more support for sticking with a 2 channel system.   I'd probably stick with full range speakers too, something that can reproduce the untz but without having to crossover the system and install more speakers than necessary.

I am definitely not one to recommend a brand or style...sorry.  Good luck!

I ended up buying a pristine vintage pair of three way Klipsch KLF-20's at ebay. they produce crisp and tight highs and the two ten inch woofers produce deep and clear base, thanks for the advice guys!
