Which Binder connector is on the KCY cable?
« on: June 20, 2011, 07:45:02 PM »
Does anyone know which Binder connector is used on the KCY cable? H2O posted that they use the Series 711, but there are two versions:

3-4 mm
http://www.binder-usa.com/psearch_detail.php?pid=5968

4-5mm
http://www.binder-usa.com/psearch_detail.php?pid=5969

Does anyone know which of these would be compatible with the KCY cable?

Thanks

Ted

The diameter is only for the cable leaving the boot - so either will work -  you pic the connector based on the diameter of the cable you are using

A KCY uses Schoeps 4 lead wiring that I believe is 4.4 mm in diameter so the should be using the 4-5mm version

One other thing is that I believe the binder connectors sold directly from binder are either silver or a goldish finish.  Whereas the ones on the Schoeps cables are black (probably a special order) - so if you are repairing a Schoeps binder cable you probably will want to buy the connectors from Schoeps directly as they do sell them (Redding audio has them on the parts list) - They do cost a few bucks more though.
