I was initially having some (very few) write errors, and so to be safe I bought a higher end Sandisk SD card. It has been working better, but I did have one "write error."

What is the best way to baby this thing? Should I do error checking through a PC? What's the best way to reformat? etc etc?

Menu > Setup > Quick Format
Have you tried that ?
