Lossless Audio Checker is reliable?
« on: April 04, 2015, 02:40:56 AM »
I used this software but I think it's not reliable. It mark lossy some files I have no doubt they are lossless. Even some official cds, extracted in .flac !!!
What do you think about this software?

About spectrographic analysis of the frequency, a file is lossy if there is a cut on 16000hz, is it right?

None of the automated ones are entirely reliable.

What you really want to do is put it into a spectral analyzer (such as EAC's Sound Processing window or the spectral frequency display view in an editor like Audition/Cool Edit), zoom in really close, and look for the "lego blocks".  Smooth continuous streaks are good, blocks are bad.   I've got some flagrantly lossy screenshots around here but not really a place to upload photos to attach to a thread...  MP3 is pretty obvious.  Sometimes other not necessarily good things (like noise reduction) happen that make them look borderline.
