Headphone Amp to power mics?

(1/1)

down2earthlandscaper:
So I was looking for a headphone amp and ended up going with this one. So cool that you can pick from about 6 different mint tins.
Thought this would be cool as a mic preamp for CAFS, CA14, AT853 etc. Especially for  >:D

Is it possible to power those "PIP Type" mics with this? or would I fry them?

Pics attached, but here is a link to the product and specs (FYI, I ordered the "Low Impedance" version)

OOK:
nope will not work...   its a headphone amp not a microphone preamp... two totally separate things..  the headphone amp takes a line level signal and boosts the output variably to the headphones.

A microphone preamp takes a mic level signal converts it to line level or digital depending on the type of preamp you have then outputs to your recorder. there is a lot more electrical magic in there but that's the rough idea...

peace ook
