External Power for a Canon Camcorder

(1/2) > >>

This thing has a goofy adapter so I am thinking about hacking the end off of a knockoff AC adapter and building a remote power option that will last long enough for a concert.

Can someone tell me if they think that 9V battery is too much or will I need to step this down some?

The battery pack is rated at 7.4V DC (890mah, 6.3Wh)
The Power Adapter is rated at 8.4V DC, 1.5A / 29VA (100V)

Power consumption ranges from 2.9W-3.1W

I have a Naztech PB15000 and a handful of 9v DVD batteries that I do not use.

With 8.4V AC adapter, presumably it's different than this series:

Yes, it is different.  It is the Canon CA-570 for a Canon XA10 camcorder

On my old Canon HF100, I've connected it to a 9V battery source (Tekkeon) and had no problems. YMMV of course!

Kick ass.  That uses the same power adapter, thank you!
