Latencies and Buffer Size?
« on: May 30, 2004, 08:31:27 PM »
I've been getting some scattered pops/clicks/dropouts in my UA-5 > HD transfers and am trying to figure out why. I plan to start increasing my buffer size gradually to see if it helps -- I'm currently set to "256 latency samples" which gives me 5 milliseconds "input and output" latency at 44.1 kHz. When I increase the buffer size though, the milliseconds increase like this:

Buffer Size of 384 = 8 milliseconds
512 = 11 milliseconds
784 = 17 milliseconds
1024 = 23 milliseconds
2048 = 46 milliseconds

Basically, I'm not sure what all of this means but I'm hoping that fidgeteing with some of it will take care of the pops/clicks/dropouts.

Any suggestions on where my buffer should be set?

Thanks.
