pops and clicks
« on: August 19, 2003, 02:25:25 AM »
Well i just got back from moe. and keller willams over the weekend for my fiirst taping.  Keller came out pretty good with a few clicks and pops mostly from the bass hits.  moe. has pops and clicks all over the place not sure what they are from.  I was getting overs all night and could not get rid of them.  My levels were turned down as far as i could go and they would not stop.

Here is what i was running A51-TL>MME>C1-VN and recording with n-track also was recording at 24/48

I really don't know what went wrong and i can't wait to get out and record something else.

Well if you were getting "overs" the pops and clicks would be your recording clipping.  I'm not that familiar with the MiniMe but isn't there a setting/jumper that sets the gain lower?

You sure the clicks and pops were from overs and not from a config problem on the laptop?

I'm pretty sure they are from overs.   The MME was in the red all the time.

Okay, yeah...sounds like trouble.  Just wanted to check b/c laptop config issues could easily cause the pops and clicks.

Changed that internal jumper yet?

Also I the minime has a soft limit with 3 diff settings and has a soft limit compress with 3 settings.  I used the soft limit on the 1st setting last night to record a friend of mine singing last night and she sounding great!!! anyway, I dont know what the results would be at a concert but my recording last night turned out awesome ;)

Yeah, cool edit pro has a feature to remove pops and clicks. When I get home from work I'll fire up CEP and give some more details.

ummm, under your master section, go to effects and open and then hit the white box on the right, the ones w/ the #'s, once you do that, go to VST, and under that plugin, there should say 'declicker', once ya have it on, hit render and it'll process the file, quite easy, i must say, ands good luck bro.....oh, and max your 'deploper' under the declicker function and thats about it..... 8)
