I recently got a custom silver milspec XLR cable, and I would like to wrap it with techflex. can I do this without removing the connectors?

Yup or this http://techflex.com/prod_F6N.asp

I have never used it and I am sure it would make the cable stiffer then normal texhflex.  But, it is a way to wrap the cable without taking off the connectors.

Anybody have any thoughts on whether the 1/4" version of this techflex would be appropriate for joining my KM140 active cables?  How tightly should this stuff wrap the cables?

the 1/8th inch stuff that I used for a single line of silver cabling wraps up pretty darn tight. I don't know how thick the 140 active cables are, but AFAIK the purpose of this specific wrap is for joining multiple cables, so I think it would be fine. I have no issues with it unraveling or fraying.

no affiliation, I got my lengths of the wrap from this guy on ebay.... http://stores.ebay.com/FURRYLETTERS

it ended up being cheaper in bulk than ordering from a parts company.

Oh yeah.. I have made two sets of silvers 10-12' each as well as a set of r-44 ic's. I have bought 3 times from them all 25' lengths. Was thinking about trying some of that 'pearl' that they have now.

Yup or this http://techflex.com/prod_F6N.asp

I have never used it and I am sure it would make the cable stiffer then normal texhflex.  But, it is a way to wrap the cable without taking off the connectors.

Has anyone used the F6 type of Techflex? Curious about extra weight/bulk/stiffness versus the normal Techflex.

yes I used this on a real thin milspec cable I had, it definitely made the cable slightly stiffer and tougher to coil, but not a huge amount stiffer or anything. It did the job well, just make sure to melt the ends again after you cut the length you want. or else it may unravel slightly at the end. I would recommend getting the application tool, here, unless you have very nimble fingers, because this stuff curls up pretty tight. I used the smallest diameter available and it fit my ~3mm cable very well. definitely weighs a bit more than normal techflex, but it looks pretty good otherwise.
