What new recording devices will the new chip upgrade be good for?  I run the hd-p2 so basically an upgrade not good for me even I did install this afternoon.

My understanding is that the chip enables the V3 to send channel status info to devices that do not set manually.  I have an MT2 which initially needed to chip replacement from the v3.  The mt2 has since had an update and correctly receives incoming info.
