Topic: ?? about using 2 Pre's/Phantom Power with XLR splitter

hey folks,

i'm looking to borrow these XLR splitters from balou2, but there's something i'm not quite clear about, and i'm wondering if someone had an answer..

with the splitter, i want to do a compare of my AKG 483s running into (a) a DMIC-20, and (b) a FireWire 410. my question is - what do i do about phantom power in this instance?? do i turn it ON on both units? just on one? and if i'm only using phantom power on one, will that 'flaw' my comparison?
