Title: schoeps/movo screen question
Post by: mcfoster on September 29, 2018, 02:15:59 PM
Hey folks, pretty new to owning a set of mk41 actives and ordered a set of the movo 3cm shotgun windscreens for outdoor uses. They are pretty tight when I checked them out and was wondering if there is any risk to damaging the capsule or if I am overly concerned.  Any advice would be appreciated. I am still not used to owning expensive microphones.

These are the ones I got (3cm version).

I use them with MK4s and MK22s w/ actives and they are fine. The rubber "fingers" inside are unlikely to hurt the capsules.

I also have movo screens and was a little scared they might scratch my 41v/4v. Tried it on and off multiple times and no issues

Thanks guys, I ended up trimming the plastic flange a little bit to help them on and off easier. I used them the other night outside and they worked great for the bit of wind I had. -Marc

Looks like you have the answer you need but I just wanted to chime in and say that I use the same Movo screens on my MK41 actives and I've never noticed any scuffing of the finish - but mine are a little older and the Nextel grey is showing a little wear already.

You want the rubber back plate to be sealed around the end of the collette to block out any wind from behind. If you trim it make sure it still seals around the back.

Thank You, good point as well I did not trim much off and they still fit snug. I will not trim them more! -Marc
