i like the bogen 3372. here are the specs:

it says 8ft, but i can get 9 out of it. unless yer at a DMB show, you really dont need to go any higher.

My favorite stands are the Manfrotto (Bogen) #3350 (3' for on stage) & Manfrotto "Avenger" mini-max #A630B (12').

I also use the Bogen #3366 (3/8" to 5/8"-27 adaptor) & #3102 (3/8" rapid adaptor) to get to a mic-friendly thread.

if you watch ebay closely, bogen stands go up all the time...I got a 17 footer for under 70 shipped and a heavy duty (but light) 13 footer for 75 shipped...just have to watch a while...they always go up.  And the part numbers are sometimes not right since some of these that are being sold are older models, but still work like a new one.

I just picked up a 13' stand from an ebay retailer...it isn't name brand, but it is quite nice..4 risers, air cushioned, and the best part...$57 shipped to my door

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2941798918&category=30080

I think they also have a 10' stand for $10 less...
