^ I am pretty certain that method does not actually "show" you where the peaks are. If there is a way that would be splendiforous as I've just manually scrolled through the entire file looking for the loudest peaks (usually a clap or something), and for my purposes dropping them down a db or 2

Another feature I use a lot in Sound Forge is under Process then Normalize (keyboard short cut Alt/P/N) and from this window I click on "Scan Levels" and this will go through the file (or just a single channel) and will tell me what the loudest peak is. Helps me figure out how much to boost the overall gain, if needed.
